Bernard Manning: An Audience With Bernard And Friends [2003]

"Stand Up!...If You Hate Man U...."

This is Bernard Manning at his best. I think because the guy is in his 80's we can let him off with a few jokes that we've heard before but the way he tells them makes up for it no end.

Performing once again in front of a packed out Embassy Club ,accompanied by James H Reeves, Bernard delivers a vivid description of all things anti-Man Utd. I'm sure, like me, you'll find this as just an added bonus to what is a barrel of laughs front start to finish.

True genius from a man who is sorely missed.

Bernard Manning: Ungagged (1990)

Bernard Manning: Ungagged (1990) 41AHKBS5yVL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

English comedian and nightclub owner. He was born and raised in manchester in northwest England.

Manning told irreverent jokes about people from all walks of life, and his act was best known for material involving ethnic stereotypes and minority groups. This led to frequent criticism that his act was racist, which he always denied, saying: "I tell jokes. You never take a joke seriously."

Manning became famous on British television during the 1970s, appearing on shows including The Comedians and The Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club. The controversy surrounding his act meant that Manning was rarely seen on television in the later part of his career, but he continued to perform in theatres and pubs until his death in 2007.

The comedy looks very dated now, more so since it's ripped from a VHS Tape (Ask your parents what that was kids) and is viewable here in full, uncensored, for you to watch, free online at 24-7 Media, enjoy this glimpse back in time.
